This summer, I had the pleasure of attending the three-day anime convention, Anime Texas, in the heart of Houston. The convention took place at the lovely Royal Sonesta Houston Galleria Hotel. Anime Texas is an annual event that brings together cosplay and anime enthusiasts from around the state. Organized by passionate fans and retired professional cosplayers, this vibrant convention offers a unique opportunity for attendees to indulge in their love for anime, manga, and cosplay. With its exciting lineup of panels, activities, and a welcoming atmosphere, Anime Texas is growing to become a must-attend event for anime fans of all ages.
At Anime Texas this year, attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a wide array of events and experiences. One of these exciting events was “Kanpai! Reincarnated Into an Interdimensional Anime Tavern”, where guests enjoyed food and drinks while participating in an interactive comedy show hosted by Take One Improv from Dallas. In addition to the entertaining improv shows, attendees had the chance to attend panels featuring industry professionals, and the dealer’s room that offered a variety of anime merchandise for fans to explore. The convention also served as a platform for talented cosplayers to showcase their work, adding an extra layer of creativity and entertainment to the event. Seven awards were presented to impressive cosplayers who truly deserved the recognition, including two Judge’s awards.
The convention was characterized by its friendly staff, welcoming attendees, and a wide range of activities that catered to individuals with any level of interest in anime. Whether you were a dedicated cosplayer, a casual fan, or simply curious about anime, Anime Texas 2023 was a pleasure to attend.
