Last weekend, one of Houston’s most significant pop culture events took place at the George R. Brown Convention Center. I don’t remember attending Comicpalooza the previous year, but it has been a few years since I last provided event coverage. I figured it was a good time to bring out the camera.
Initially, plans were to come out on Friday night, but by the time we got off work and made it out there, there wouldn’t be much time left, so we just prepared ourselves for the weekend instead of rushing on Friday evening. We headed out into the city early Saturday morning for a panel and a day of walking around the exhibit hall. After the first panel, I made my way over ot the car show portion of the hall and took photos of the majority of the rides. A few still had car covers on for “special unveilings” later in the day, which ended up just missing out on seeing them and not getting any photos.
I proceeded to take photos of some of the cosplayers walking around as we waited for the main attraction, which to us was the cosplay contest. It makes it a bit easier to see and take photos of the cosplayers. This pretty much wrapped up the evening, and we returned Sunday to shop the hall and take more pictures. It’s more than just a gathering of comic book fans; gamers, anime enthusiasts, and movie buffs can all come together and share their passions here. Have you attended Comicpalooza yet?
