The Big Event 8

This past Saturday, it was finally time for Houston’s biggest Subaru event to return for the annual The Big Event 8 held at the Gillman Subaru South dealership. If you are a Subaru fan in the Houston area, you have heard of this car show, and it’s one on the list to look forward to. I have attended the past couple of years, and it’s always a great event open to the whole family.

I arrived towards the end of the event, but there was still lots going on. I went straight to taking photos for my coverage, occasionally making a few stops to chat with people there. Thankfully the weather cooled down a bit to the 80s, but If you stayed in the sun like me, you still worked up a sweat. Standing in the shade and with the occassional breeze… it felt good. It was a much welcomed change in our usual weather, too bad it’s already going back up. This year’s special guest included Travis Pastrana, David Higgins, and Craig Drew out here signing autographs and available for fan meet and greets.

As I walked around, I did notice a few more non Subaru’s attending this years car show. The Big Event isn’t just for Subaru owners, and other owners are welcomed to show off their rides as well. I also noticed the layout for the show was different from the previous years. I walked down the side through the vendor alley to the back where the food trucks were put this year, and the lines were pretty long. When you have some amazing food trucks out at an event catering for free, expect there to be lines. On the other side I found some more Subarus and vendors followed by some inflatables for the kids to enjoy. Like I said before, there’s something for everyone out here for the Big Event, which this event is completely free for spectators. See you again next year, till then stay tuned!
