Wekfest Texas 2015

Time sure does fly by, and with the last few months being pretty busy some things got left behind. One of the things that got forgotten was my coverage of the Wekfest Texas car show that was hosted back in the middle of October here in Houston. As I was going through my catalog of photos, I stumbled across the folder and notice that these were never released. So here I am finally writing up my coverage of the event which seemed like it was only a few weeks ago.

I arrived later in the day to George R. Brown Convention Center and made my way to the halls where Wekfest Texas was taking place. Yes that was plural, as in two halls filled with over 350 modified rides from all over Texas, and beyond. Most shows hosted here as usually in one hall. Unfortunately I had a limited time slot to stay as I had a scheduled photo shoot following my time here at the show, so I went straight to taking photos.

I started on the far right side of the hall and made this my starting point. With that It makes it a bit easier to take which cars I have shot, so I began taking photos of each and every ride.  Every now and then I ran into some friends that were also at the show and we chatted briefly. I had to keep it short since time was limited. Row by row, I walked through snapping away and checking out some of these amazing rides. Wekfest screening process definitely keeps the quality up for their shows.

With the two halls, the vehicles had some more breathing room between each one, which made it a bit easier to get photos of them. Now just waiting for the right moment as hundreds of spectators were walking through, that part was a bit trickier. As I approached the last row, I noticed I only had minutes left before I had to leave. I switched lenses to go through briefly and get some more photos of the vendors and the crowd.  I ran, well walked fast, through the venue to get a bit more coverage.

Soon after, people started gathering around the center area of the halls where the awards table was set up. It was almost time to give out the awards, so I squeezed in to snap a few photos before they were all given away.  That was it for me, I stayed longer than I was suppose to. As I made my way out, I had to snap a few more photos. I was really impressed with the some of the builds that were seen here, I wish I made more time to stay… till next time.
