Stancewars Comes to Houston

What is Stancewars? Before the car show, I honestly didn’t know who they were. It all started in Seattle, Stancewars is a growing fitment based event which you could gathering from the name. With success in Seattle and Vegas, the next stop was Houston.

To enter your vehicle in the show, you had to submit your ride along with photos for approval. I thought about entering my ride, but plans for that day kept changing so I held off. I ended up being free that day so I could have entered, but I probably wouldn’t have brought my car as I came down with some sickness that weekend. I still decided to make the trip to downtown and spend as much time as I could out there.

First off, the venue was definitely different than the usual NGR and George R Brown convention center that most of us are accustomed to for larger car shows here in Houston. Stancewars Houston show was set up in the parking lot next to Minute Maid, under the freeway overpass which still provided shade and cover if the weather wasn’t cooperating. Thankfully the weather was perfect to be outdoors. I heard from a few people the change in venue was different but much welcomed.

FDs are among of my favorite rides, this one is no exception.

I arrived a few minutes after the car show opened its gates to the general public, there was a small line wrapped around the fence with spectators waiting to get in. As soon as I entered, I begin my coverage starting off at the Stancewars booth, which was conveniently by the entrance. I went row by row snapping photos of the rides under the over pass making the occasional stop to chat with friends. In the mix of rides out here, it was great seeing a few new ones. Towards the back end of the show area, there were a few food trucks out here to fuel the spectators back up, the staff sought out to find some of Houston’s best.

Every now and then throughout the show, I heard Mike from Stancewars get on stage to tell a few stories about the history behind the show or answer a few questions people had. I continued my rounds before making my way to the other area of the car show. After I finished my photos, I went back around to capture a few more of some of the rides I like and a few of the ladies that we out at the show. By this time the Air-Ride limbo was about to start. I made my way back to the staging area to take a quick snap before heading out. Stancewars is set to return November 2017, I will see you there… hopefully this time with my ride!
