Houston Coffee and Cars January 2017

With the crazy weather for the month of December, the annual toy drive hosted at the Houston Coffee and Cars gathering was delay to the month of January. Rain is one factor that can dramatically reduce the attendance of an outdoor event, and the first weekend of December was pretty wet. The weather participation was to be much better for the January date, but the temperature was a different story. It doesn’t drop below freezing here in Houston that often, but it did for that morning. Honestly I wasn’t expecting a great turnout since it was so cold, but local car enthusiasts proved me wrong with an amazing turnout.

I arrived right at starting time to find Memorial City Mall filled with cars already lined up in the display areas. I bundled myself up to try to stay warm and made my way to the front area of the gathering to find a huge crowd of people watching as more rides can in or checking out the exotics on display. I made my way around snapping photos of some of the rides out here, starting towards the back end of that area with the smaller crowds. As I made my way closer to the front, the amount of people increase. There were a ton of people out here bracing the cold weather to see these machines. Some even in shorts, I’m from Houston and I am not use to the cold so I was completely covered and still a bit cold.  The front row was filled with Hummers lined up with the trunks filled with toys for the toy drive. Behind that were some of the rare exotics that were on display.

After checking out that area I made my way to the other side which is a mixture of imports and domestics. Unfortunately by the time I made it there, some of the rides had already begun leaving. I walked through the parking lot capturing the rides that stood out to me. Once I was done I made a quick round to see what else I might of missed, and made a stop to snag a few more photos of some of the rides as they were waiting in line to exit the parking lot. If you missed out, don’t worry Houston Coffee and Cars is a monthly event that usually takes place the first Saturday morning of each month, from 8am to 10am at Memorial City Mall. You will have to get there early if you wish to get a good spot and display your ride.
