Cars and Coffee Albuquerque, NM

During my travels to other cities, there’s one thing I like to do if I have the time, and that is to check out the local car scene. This past weekend, a few friends and I made the journey up north to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the weekend. Before arriving, I contacted a friend we were meeting there to see what events, if any, were going on. After he checked with a few of his car friends, he got back to me and told me about the weekly Cars and Coffee Albuquerque gathering.

Cars and Coffee is a popular gathering found in many cities across the U.S. – with many of them held monthly, so it was a bit of a delighted surprise to hear the one held here was weekly. Saturday’s schedule was clear for the morning, so I headed out to the strip center where the meet was held.

In all honesty, coming from Houston, I wasn’t expecting a huge turn out; not to mention the colder weather. As soon as I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised with the good amount of vehicles in attendance. A group of Porsches and Corvettes first caught my eye, I grabbed my gear and headed over to start my coverage. As I walked around, I did overhear some of the locals expressing their surprise on how many came out in the cold. On the plus side, I was happy to know I wasn’t the only one that was cold, but the morning warmed up, especially with the sun being out. When I first arrived, I was freezing a bit – especially my fingers, but by the time I left, I was comfortable in the cooler temps.

I stayed for a little over an hour and captured the cars that were here during that time span. I did spot an older Datsun parked as soon as I arrived, but I was a bit disappointed that I wasn’t able to snap a photo of it. But most of the other cars made it into the gallery. To my surprise, there were even a few NSX’s in attendance. Some of the rides stayed at the meet for the duration, while some came and left for a brief time period. Just like any meet I have attended, a few cars did exit the parking lot making sure others could hear them leave, but it wasn’t that bad. Overall, this was a great meet to attend. So if find yourself visiting Albuquerque and love checking out various rides, I would recommend you making a stop at the Starbucks off Jefferson St, just north of Masthead St NE, and check it out.
